Ribfest

On Saturday June 7th Ethan and I rode the bus to Ribfest. It was a little North of Wicker Park so the bus ride was really short. We were super excited about Ribfest and the ribs were delicious, but it was a little bit of a downer. Instead of setting up at one of the thousands of parks they have here, they set it up on a street between buildings. Then to make it even better they said, free admission and had no "max capacity." Imagine our elevator experience going up to the SkyDeck but for about 2 miles.
Live and learn right. Luckily there was a kiddie corner off of the main street so Kelsey got to battle her way up to the top of blow up slides only to fight her way back down. The funniest part to us about the kiddie sections, was that all the parents were wasted!
Now we know what Ribfest is and can explain it properly. It is a place to be corralled down a street, touching WAY too many strangers, passing delicious stands where restaurants have set up for people to buy ribs, but even more stands where beer stations are set up so people can have a good time and not mind the crowds as much. The event SMELLED awesome (for real. The smell of ribs could be smelled for miles) but the even was not necessarily awesome.
Ethan's phone really confuses him
There were so many smokers on the street that Scott would have been in heaven. The smell of smoked meat is one that just instantly makes me drool

In the kiddie section we were able to find a patch of sidewalk to sit on and enjoy our ribs. They seriously were amazing AND they were from a place called Smoke Daddy, which was on my A list of places to eat so it was a win win.

We didn't stay at Ribfest for too long and decided to tour around Wicker Park on our way home. We just walked around downtown and then played at the actual Wicker Park. It was really beautiful. Super urban and hipster.

I wanted to take a picture of the houses in Wicker Park to compare them to our neighborhood and right when I pulled out my camera we stopped at this little number. It made me laugh so hard! On another note though, Wick Park had so many mansions. I tried to capture them, but my camera just couldn't. Like homes that bought 3 or 4 lots and not only were huge, but had HUGE yards (Utah sized yards but here that is huge considering no one has a yard like at all!)
Down the street from our house a house was torn down and being rebuild. Its kinda neat to see what an empty house lot looks like. They are so long
On the way home, we decided that we would just walk instead of take the bus and I'm really glad we did. We were able to see so much more by walking. Because we took the bus, we were also able to stop at Marianos and get some dollar gelato! It was delicious.
