Pumpkin Patch

Kelsey and I went to the Springville pumpkin patch on the 7th with MBASA. It was a surprisingly warm day which was nice and the pumpkin patch was as fun as a pumpkin patch can be but Kelsey is still too little to be way impressed. There was a corn pit that she didn't like to play in and just stood there, there were some animals which she actually loved, a slide that was too big for her and too over run by 5 year olds, and a place to climb the hay which she tried over and over and over but she just kept slipping. It was kinda sad actually. I mean all in all it was fun to be outside and to be apart of a fall activity but we are still just too little I think.

The corn pit was cool but she was unimpressed. All Kelsey wanted to do was push the stroller around. This was harder than it sounds because the ground was so bumpy and rocky that it kept getting stuck.

Despite the hardships, we enjoyed the afternoon. 

And when did I get a toddler! She looks so old to me. Slow down Kelsey! Slow down!

College Date Night

We are in college again and our dates have turned into college dates again. Aka revolving around BYU events and free food. On Friday Oct 11th we got to go pick up a free pizza because we read to Kelsey every day for a week. After the pizza, we went to the park, walked around the BYU library (which now has MACS and a fireplace) and then went to my intramural game. After the game, we watched The Birds which I have always wanted to see, but found it kinda a waste of time :) Anyway, despite The Birds, we had a great night and felt like we were in college again.

Kelsey is a girl from my own heart. She LOVES pizza. She had one and a half adult sized pieces.

Thank you Darden

Over conference weekend Ethan had the opportunity to fly to Orlando to interview with Darden Restaurants in pursuit of a potential summer internship. We still haven't heard back from Darden, (and probably wont for a couple more weeks) Ethan was just excited to be able to have an interview under his belt and is ready for more. He was very nervous for his first interview, but while he was flying in he saw the fireworks over Disney World and that helped calm his nervous. That also made us want to live there terribly but we can't get too excited. 

As a thank you, Darden was classy enough to give Ethan a gift card to Red Lobster and so when he got back we planned a date night and went to Red Lobster. The food was delicious and the whole meal we couldn't help but talk about living in Florida.  (We are not doing well at keeping our excitement contained.)

Conference

This year the annual conference extravaganza was at Robert and Diana's new home. It is such a beautiful home and has plenty of space for all of us that we felt like we really were on vacation. This year was especially different because we celebrated Holden's, Emily's, and Diana's birthdays back to back to back. It made for one crazy, good food weekend!
 Ethan and I were able to stay Thursday night to Monday morning, so it really felt like a vacation. Kelsey has so much fun following Granpa around, stealing the hall flashlight and reading Granmas books. We slept in the guest bedroom and so I would wake up to Kelsey saying "Poppa? Poppa?" I would then take her out of her crib, she would run down the hall yelling for Poppa. Se just loves her grandparents. Its super cute.
Kelsey especially loved the reading nook that Granma has created. There are more books than a little girl could dream of! She loved it. She also spent plenty of time in the adorable play room under the stairs and in the closet and running back and forth on the cement blocks in the backyard. It was just so nice to be able to run around, play with new toys, walk on new carpet, and get away from our little apartment.

The favorite toy was the doll stroller. These two girls fought over it like you wouldn't believe. The funny thing too was that they wouldn't push it once it was their turn. They would just carry it away from the other one to make sure that it really was theirs.

Reo or Julie had the brilliant idea to put Harper in the stroller. Harper wanted to be pushed and Kelsey wanted to push. Problem solved! And it was adorable for the rest of us to watch. Who needs a doll when you have a cousin?!

With MBASA I participated in a service activity called GOTHE (Gifts of the Heart Exchange). It is an opportunity for people to bring kids clothes that they don't use anymore and take the sizes of clothes that they would now need. Kid to Kid donates their leftovers and so it is an understatement to say that there were a TON of clothes. I took this picture with only 20 min left of the 4 hours morning. People left with garbage bags and garbage bags of clothes and we still had about 5 truck loads that were shipped to DI afterwards. It was such a blessing to be able to go to GOTHE and to work at GOTHE.

When you love to climb you are bound to fall. Well Kels actually jumped off and hit her head. It was sad

Kelsey was having a really hard morning. It was 32 degrees outside and so I didn't want to go for a run. The morning was going so badly that I decided to take her for a walk. As soon as we stepped outside she started smiling. Even when its freezing Kelsey loves to be outside. 

The park

Kelsey LOVES to be outside. I mean Kelsey LOVES to be outside. There is no way to describe her love unless you see her. When she is upset we go on a walk. When she is restless, we take her outside. When we want her to have fun, we go to the park. I mean Kelsey loves to be outside. So many evenings we just sit on the stairs in front of our apartment and she climbs the parking blocks or picks of rocks. Whenever either of leave and she hears the door open she runs as fast as she can to get out the door before we stop her. Maybe its all little kid, I wouldn't know because I only have one, but Kelsey loves to be outside. 

Lucky for us we have a park about 3 blocks from our house and go there often. Kelsey is super fearless and is learning how to climb and has discovered how to go down the slide. One day, she climbed the stairs to the slide, crawled over to it, turned around like if she were going down stairs and slide right down. I was a little nervous because she slide down FAST, but when she got to the end, she got to her feet (the momentum knocked her to her face and knees) and had the biggest smile on her face! She was laughing so hard and was sold.

Luckily she didn't notice the big slide that time and was able to practice on the little slide. Eventually she did notice the big slide but she loved that one just as much. It is super funny to watch such a little person go down the slide.

 

 

Like every little kid Kelsey also loves to swing, but especially  when Ethan pushes her. I love seeing how much she loves her dad

 

 

Really close to our house is the duck pond. Kelsey was able to say quack before any other word and so it was pretty fun to go see the ducks. The duck pond is pretty big and on the other side of the water there is a "big" woodsy area with lots of rocks and trees. Ethan and I often just sit on the benches and let Kelsey climb and walk around to her hearts content. It is a nice break for us and a great break for her. Win, Win, Win.

One day when we went to the park there was a couple there who had rented a puppy and they let Kelsey play with the puppy. It was a super cute lab beagle mix so it had the body of a lab but with tiny little legs. His name was Coach and he was like 4 weeks old. Kelsey loved the little puppy and kept going awe baby! I told Kelsey to give the puppy a kiss and she tried to give the dad a kiss. It was pretty funny. Anyway, me and Kelsey both want a puppy so hopefully we can convince Ethan some day (I mean when we have a house and aren't moving every year).
