Memorial Day Weekend

We found out Ethan didn't have to work Memorial Day so we decided to take advantage and head up north for the weekend. As it turns out, Scott and Karolyn were also taking advantage of Memorial Day weekend and heading South for the weekend. North for us and South for them = WE MET UP!!
It was so much fun. I don't want to say it was a surprise because it wasn't but it was just one of those things in life that line up so perfectly that you can't pass it up. We had to drive little bit further than we had planned,  but it was totally worth it.

We met up in Saint George, where our hotel got upgraded to a super roomy suite, and then headed over to Sandy Canyon Lake (or something like that) to use their wave runners. Needless to say, it was an awesome weekend! As an added bonus, Skyler turned 9 while we were with him so we got to watch him open presents. That was fun.

We ate at Black Bear Diner. That was cool
The sun was super bright!
We literally spent the whole day taking turns on the jet skis. The lake was really small so as more boats came, it got choppier and choppier which consequently is perfect conditions for jet skis. At first we were terrible drivers, but as the day went on we got less and less terrible. Towards the end we were getting some "serious" air and cutting through the bottom of waves.  I think my favorite part was driving with Skyler and having him tell me how bad I was at driving. It was hilarious. I really was terrible at driving, but in my defense I always had to have the green one and the red one was way easier to control! To prove my point, Ethan and Skyler made the green one flip so there's that.

We couldn't get Kelsey on the jet skis, but thats okay. She was so happy to splash and swim with the cousins. Her cousins mean everything to her. She loves them! Madison had fun too, but got super tired. She just didn't know what to do with herself, was wandering around just moaning when Karolyn picked her up and held her and before too long she was fast asleep. Sweet girl. She stayed asleep for a few hours too.

Me vs Skyler

I've been through this pass before but it was one of my favorites. This and the pass right before Provoish: can't be beat
Well like all fun days, this one came to an end. A storm started to roll in so we quickly packed up our things, said our goodbyes and headed for home. On the way home we decided to stop in Vegas for the night just to ensure safe driving, but it kind of turned it more into a vacation. We stayed at the Station hotel, went to their buffet, watched some basketball and went to bed at like 8! Thanks to Madison, we were up by 5:30, packed and loaded by 6, and left for home around 6:15 which turned out to be fine with the time change. The drive was long, but it was so much fun to see family. Kelsey talked about it for days after.

Jordyn and Kathryn

The day I have been fearing all year as finally happened: Kelsey's best friends, her reasons to wake up in the morning, our go to for entertainment, our "sisters", have moved. It was a very emotional week for Kelsey.
We have moved a lot in our lives, but I was realizing that this was the first time in our lives, that we have been the ones that were left. Normally we are the ones leaving and honestly I think that is way easier. Its so much easier to leave friends because even though you don't want to, you know you are going to be developing a new routine. You are forced yo start over. This is so much worse. We are only being forced to lose part of our routine and I hate it. Luckily Jordyn and Kathryn only live 30 minutes away and we have already gotten together with them, but there was just something magical about having them next door. They will be greatly missed. Kelsey has already cried for them on really tired nights. I know she won't really remember their friendship when she is older, but I will and it certainly was something special. If we all loved our friends like these girls loved each other, the world would be a kinder place. These girls literally spend every day together, tell each other everything, and still can't get enough at the end of the day. They would do anything for each other. If that doesn't define friendship, I don't know what does.

Diana and Emily

Diana and Emily came into town for about a week in preparation for a brain injury alliance workshop that they were both speaking at. Luckily for us, they came early enough that we got to spend lots of time with them. We most just chatted, ate really good food and swam, but it was one of the best weeks of the year. We love having family come visit. It really is what we look forward to.

Fry's Tour

The last week of preschool was very unofficial. We had a bunch of field trips and they were awesome. First we went to the fire station which was very typically but then we went to Fry's and it was AWESOME!!!
They gathered all of us by the front of the store and handed everyone a "gift bag" full of the following
Capri Sun
Ruler
Pencils and Notepad
Peanut butter crackers
Fruit Snacks
Magnets

Once we got the rules and our bags, we headed to the floral department where they got to look at flowers and each got a balloon.
From the floral department, they headed to produce where they talked about vegetables, got to pick an apple to take home,  and looked at some carrots.

From produce, we headed over to the deli where a meat and cheese cup was awaiting all the kids

On to the bakery! We each got a cookie and a ring (the toppers they use for the cupcakes)

Next we headed to the seafood. The worker opened up the front of the glass so they could look at all the different fish and shrimps. She showed them a lobster's face, opened up an oyster, and showed them a crawdad or something like that. She finished her portion by giving all the kids hair nets. Kelsey HATED HATED HATED it!!!

After the seafood, we headed to the back refrigerator to see how the milk is stored, then we headed to the pharmacy where we got ANOTHER gift bag. This one had a pill divider, dum dums, a baby medicine syringe,  more pencils, stickers, and a bunch of other stuff that I threw away.

I'm telling you. This was the coolest, most organized field trip I have ever been on. They had those kids loving the store. It blew me away. It was so much fun.

End of Preschool Pool Party

I don't know how but every part for preschool landed on my day. Some people would love this, and I kind of thought I would have, but after a while I got kind of tired of parties. I traded the Easter party, but got left with the end of school party. I was so over preschool (as were the kids and the other moms) that this is how the party went:
Played some youtube dance videos so they could get really hyper
Filled up my pool about 2inches deep
Pulled out some left over chips and saltines
Turned on some music
Told the kids only to come inside if they had to go potty.

Alright, so there was a tad more supervision than I let one too, but not much. I planned nothing and you know what, the kids didn't notice the difference. It makes me wonder why I was planning school at all this whole year. Regardless of how I felt, the kids loved the party and love preschool and I love that there are so many kids Kelsey's age. We are so blessed

I was going to make a "thank you" card for the other teachers, but never got around to it. This is the feed for that said thank you note

Phoenix in Bloom

Summer is coming but its not too hot yet so we are trying to get outside as much as we can. One day we thought it would be fun to walk around and take pictures of the different cactus and flowers in our neighborhood. To be totally honest, it really wasn't that fun for so many reason. 1) Kelsey didn't want to walk or ride 2) Madison didn't want to ride 3) I realized that people might think it was weird to take pictures of their plants consequently including their houses so I got really weird about it 4) We all got super hungry 5)We all complain about everything all the time.
Regardless of our negative attitude about a "good" idea, we got a few snaps of some plants. Mostly its just funny to think about how much this idea failed
