For her actual birthday we had cupcakes with the Salmons and opened presents. It was very low key, but I'm pretty sure she had a ball. she even picked out a dress up just to blow out the candles. AND she knew what to do at the end of the song. It was so cute.
People often say Madison is "sweet." Although I agree, I think better words to describe her would be fearless, witty, strategic, charming, passionate, affectionate, powerful, opinionated, funny, fun, and definitely strong. Madison is sweet in the sense that she is adorable and loves to give hug, but she equally loves to pull your hair and push you so far over the edge that you find yourself weeping while she is laughing. So no. I wouldn't say sweet :)
Madison can keep up with the best of em. At the park, she will do ANYTHING the other kids are doing. She hates when she can't reach something and will do anything (including climbing on other people) to reach her goal. On time I saw these 7 year old boys jumping off a ledge like I don't know 4 feet high. "She wouldn't," I foolishly thought. Next thing I know, I see a flash of pink diving to the ground. Not gonna lie, I was really mad because it was so dangerous, but she did it and loved it. She will climb anything and everything and WILL! NOT! BE! STOPPED!!! I'm telling you, this girl is going to do amazing things. We went to this bounce house and she charged up this 30 foot slide like it was no big deal. It was a big deal and I had to DIVE into this ball pit to help her, but she did awesome. One thing though, Madison definitely has a timid side. I don't want to give the impression that she is a daredevil. Its just more that she will try anything. She gets nervous in crowds, wants to sit by me at story time, hates when we leave on dates, and had to warm up to nursery. She is not a "Stop World! I am here" type, but she is fearless.
Madison is crazy independent, but loves to snuggle and be held. Her favorite thing to say is "Hodchoo" ( Hold you aka hold me). She loves to laugh and thinks it funnier to make people laugh. She loves to run away and loves to be outside on walks. She has figured out that if she sits in her stroller, someone will push her and she will sit there all day until it happens. She is feisty and a fighter and loves to push buttons (like emotional ones, not real ones) She still eats terrible and drinks her body weight in milk. She gets so mad because we ration her milk and make her eat food and she just hates us for it. Girl loves her milk.
She loves "dede" (blankey) and loves animals as long as they stay about 40 ft away. If they break that barrier she WILL scream as though she is being taken, no matter the size of the animal. My favorite thing she does right now is sing and dance in costumes. She still can't talk great so its just adorable to hear her eek out any syllable she can. Its adorable.
She point out "tucks" and "tuck again mama" and loves to point out fishys that she sees on signs. She tells me by making a kissing sound. She can't go to bed with out a "hud and tiss" and blows kisses to you all the way until you shut the door. In the morning when you get her out of her bed, she yells "MAMA DADA!!!""How did you sleep Madison?" GOOD!! Mik-ah?" (She is excited to see us but instantly wants milk)
Madison tells us when she needs a new diaper but I make nothing of it. I'm not letting that girl potty train at least for another year. I'm still healing.
She LOOOOOOOVES her flowers dress that "tills (twirls0" and gets so upset when its "ditty (dirty)" She literally pulls it out of the laundry. She has worn it three times with week.
She request for "Ohohoh and ByeByBye" every time we are in the car and Loves Mime and Elmo (elmo is Mickey. go figure becasue Elmo is also Elmo) Whenever see hears a song that she knows she yells "OOOOOOOH BOOOY!!!" Its my favorite.
I personally think she believes she should be about 10 years older than she is and has mastered the tantrum complete with kicking, screaming, scratching, slapping, pulling, jumping and landing on her bum, and now biting. Its lots of fun.
She loves to eat ahsauce (applesauce) and tooties (cookies)
If I say no, she will do it and the only time its a problem is when she does things like insists on touching the hot stove. Its sounds as sad as it was, but I swear I tried to stop her. I will say though that now she knows and every time I'm cooking, she runs up to me and points to her fingers and says "hot. sad" Its kind of cute but really sad and I cried and cried when she actually burned her fingers. (It was all five :(
Madison is an amazing sleeper but suffers if she doesn't get her nap. Unfortunately for both of us, she only naps about 3 times a week, becasue she is too busy to fall asleep (her words. Not mine)
She loves chasing Kelsey while Kelsey rides her bike in the loop, and sings along to all their favorite songs.
She LOVES washing her hands and LOVES soap. She gets in trouble all the time for this one though. I'm just so tired of cleaning up a flooded bathroom.
She's written on the wall with Literally everything (pens, glue, markers, crayon, pencil, sunscreen, food... shall I keep going) I've stopped getting mad and now when I get out the shower I just brace myself for what I'm going to find. I'm at such a loss and what stumps me even more is how she is getting this stuff. It is on lock down in our closet and yet somehow she finds away.
Madison is obsessed with technology. My phone is off limits. It always has been. They don't get it ever. Like EVER, but, as I'm sure you guessed, the second she can sneak it away she will. I can not tell you how many times I find her in closets just rapid fire touching as many buttons as she can. Then, when shes been outted, she will either fight me for the phone or chuck it as far as she can and run. I don't know which one I like more! She loves technology. She also loves "stows! A Stow a stow!! (show!)

But here's the thing. I truly believe that Madison will defend her sister and family and beliefs better than anyone I know. She is amazingly stubborn which is hard right now (I've kind of quit to be honest. I am at such a loss) but I just know once she starts understanding and talking, she will be a champion for what she believes in. Madison is such a cheeser and says hi to everyone she sees. She will randomly blow kisses and is always laughing. She loves to dance and loves to be held. She always wants to cuddle and gets genuinely excited to see family and friends.
She hates putting on her shoes and HATES coats, but Madison is such a wonderful person. Her personality is amazing and one to be admired. She will do amazing things in her life. I'm excited to be apart of it. I just hope she always wants my hugs as comfort because despite everything else, thats pretty awesome. I love you Madison. Don't change (just maybe say no less okay?) You keep me young and I wouldn't have you any other way. Its super hard right now, but I know the pay off will be huge. You rock our world!
I want to find true joy in others that Madison finds in people. She thrives from others. What a beautiful way to be.
