I can not believe Ethan's birthday has come and gone already. Every year his birthday falls around Labor day which is a day off of work. Overstock also gives him his birthday off and so he gets a 4 day week end for free every year. We decided this year to take two extra days off and go see Jench and AJ in Vegas. It was a great vacation and a fun close to a jam packed summer.
*If anyone reads this blog: This is like a journal and so could be very boring. Id skip ahead to the pics!
Before I get into the vacation, just thinking about this summer gets me tired! We were so busy, but I love it that way so no complaints here. Kelsey born June 2nd, Mom and family from June 4th- June 16th, family came back for wedding and blessing June 30th which means between the 16th and the 30th we were raising Kelsey, planning a bridal shower, planning a wedding, arranging flowers, and the day to day stuff. July 1st blessed Kelsey, July 2nd- 7th wedding, holiday, and family, July 8th Norah's blessing (miss you Norah), July 9th leave for Spokane and got back July 23rd. July 24th-28th playing catch up from vacation. July 27th London Olympics start and will consume our nights for the next 2 weeks. Go USA! August 1st-August 4th attended weddings and birthday parties, concert on August 11th, Lake August 14th and 21st, family in town again August 17th- August 23rd, play catch up and get ready for vacation August 24th-28th! It was a great summer. I got back into running very slowly, found a walking partner and hung out with Kelsey and Ethan was on another softball team which was pretty terrible and a basketball team which was pretty good. We enjoyed living in Utah by going up the Canyon, visiting the zoo and other fun places, and also enjoyed getting some giggles out Kelsey. Summer was fantastic this year. I got to see my family like 4 times and we were ALL together for the wedding.
Now, our vacation started August 30th. Ethan left work at 4, we packed the car and headed to Utah.
We went to JCW's for dinner (it was really good, but I'm kinda sick of burgers lately) and then went to the game. It was so much fun being there again. When the cougars ran out there were fireworks and smoke machines which made it more exciting. Kelsey was great the whole time and was so distracted during the whole game she wouldn't eat, sleep, or cry which made it easy for Ethan and I. The BYU cougars beat the WSU cougars 45-6 but the game was way too long! After the first quarter I turned to Ethan and was like "Its half time already?" He then reminded me that football was quarters and not halves. I was so disappointed. The game ended at 11:30 and we were home by 1 (ethan wanted to sit in the stadium as long as possible :)
August 31st- We dressed up and went to BYU. Campus is way different since we were there. We definitely don't belong any more. We just felt old. I mean we have a baby for heavens sake. It was different too because there were no men on campus. All the guys dress so femmy and all the girls dress so 80's grunge. It was weird. None the less, super fun to go and remember how awesome college was. We got back and went to Rice King with Uncle Kelly and Aunt Debbie and then watched Legally Blonde.
September 1st- Happy 26th Ethan. thank you for spending your birthday in the car traveling. We left Utah at 9 and got to Vegas at like 2:30. We only had to stop and feed Kelsey once which was wonderful and with the time change it made the time go a lot faster too. We went to a Colombian restaurant that night (biggest waste of money) and had ice cream sundaes for Ethan's birthday.
September 2nd- After church we went up to the Las Vegas temple. It is BEAUTIFUL!!
September 3rd- We walked around the strip and ate at TI buffet. The strip is cool to look at, but going inside was not as fun for me as I thought it would be. One I HATE smoking and every place was filled with smoke. Two there was nothing to do inside the hotels. We did eat at Blizz frozen yogurt, saw two Belagio water shows, got lost in Caesars mall, and one volcano show. Kelsey was a champ and it was really easy to find quiet places to feed here which was nice. The Vanician was my favorite with the water running through it. I don't think I'll ever go back to the strip but we had a good time.
September 3rd- We went to the Hoover Dam and it was amazing. It was like 105 outside though and you had to pay to go to the visitor center and so we didn't stay long, but it was so fun to be there and see it. When we got home we went swimming and then got ready to go see Wicked. Wicked was the highlight of the trip for me. I have no words to describe the play, but I had an amazing time. I can't wait to go again! The whole time, I just kept thinking, "It this really real? I'm I really at THIS show?' Wicked was one of those plays I have always wanted to see but due to price and tickets selling out so fast, I kinda just assumed I would never get to see it so being there was so surreal for me. I loved it and have a wonderful husband!
September 4th- We traveled home and had to adjust back to life.
Summer was great, all our trips were so much fun and now life is great because we still have Kelsey and she just gets more and more fun every day.
